Cypress Improvement Association
We are a volunteer-based community association of neighbors along Cypress Creek Road in Severna Park, Maryland. The Cypress Improvement Association has two main goals:
To promote the goodwill and welfare among Cypress Creek residents, the greater Severna Park community, and localities along the Magothy River in Anne Arundel County, Maryland.
To protect, preserve, and improve the appearance, value, and convenience of the Cypress Community Pier.
Members enjoy recreational and social activities organized by the volunteer Board, Officers, and Committees. Benefits include:
Fish, swim, relax, view the stars, and enjoy the sunrise from our community pier.
Moonlight and sunrise kayak trips, ice cream social, Halloween party and yard sales.
Community voice with the Greater Severna Park Council, Magothy River Association, County Transportation Department, and Police Community Relations Council.
General membership meetings on the second Monday of odd months to discuss issues of common concern (e.g., traffic safety) at Woods Presbyterian Church.
Membership is voluntary and based on each calendar year. Residents within the CIA boundary may become a member. Members may also benefit from joining the Cypress Creek Nextdoor social network site.

Planning For the Future
At the general membership meeting on September 19, 2022, the Cypress Improvement Association hosted a discussion of an annual dues increase, beginning in 2023 (to $75), and presented a long term sustainability effort for the preservation of our community's assets, most notably - the pier.

Update: As of Sept 2023, phase 1 of the plan has been implemented with an increase in annual dues. The increased funds will be saved in a "pier infrastructure fund" until needed. Subsequent phases are on hold until additional additional CIA volunteers are identified to spearhead these efforts. Email cypressassoc@gmail.com if you would like to take a leadership role.
